De Soto Welcomes New Administrator & Director

Mr. Hammond

Please join us in congratulating Mr. Zeb Hammond on his new role as the Assistant Principal at De Soto Junior High School, effective July 1, 2022. Mr. Hammond is currently a teacher with the district and oversees aspects of our alternative programs including the Management School, Missouri Options and the JAG program. Mr. Hammond is a loyal and dedicated Dragon. He has worked in the district for the past 14 years in various capacities. He has served on the Student Support Team and the Safety & Security Team at the Junior High and is currently the Varsity Basketball coach and Golf coach. Mr. Hammond has a bachelor’s degree from Blackburn College and a master’s degree in educational administration from Missouri Baptist University.

Mrs. Kasmarzik

Congratulates to Ms. Christina Kasmarzik on her new role as the Director of Human Resources, effective July 1, 2022. Ms. Kasmarzik is currently Payroll Specialist for the Dunklin R5 School District. Ms. Kasmarzik has worked in payroll for three years. Prior to working for Dunklin she worked at Ekon Benefits as a Benefits Administrator for three years and was a General Manager at Ashley’s Photography for five years. Ms. Kasmarzik holds a Bachelor’s degree from University of Missouri– St. Louis in Business Management & Administration.

Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Deana Pope on her new role as the Director of Technology for De Soto School District, effective July 1, 2022. Mrs. Pope is currently the district’s Instructional Technology Learning and Communication Support Specialist. Mrs. Pope is a loyal and dedicated Dragon. She has worked in the district for the past 21 years. 17 of those years she worked as a Business Teacher, supported Chromeland, worked as an A+ Co-Coordinator, and a technology assistant. Prior to working for the district, she was a Computer Programming Instructor and software/hardware technician.

Mrs. Pope holds an Education Specialist Degree from University of Missouri– Columbia in Information Science and Learning Technology, with a focus in Technology in Schools. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Education and a Bachelors Degree in Computer Information Systems.

Mr. Rogers

We would like to welcome Mr. Travis Rogers as the new Director of Facilities for the district, effective September 8, 2022. Mr. Rogers was previously the Director of Facilities and Transportation at Grandview School District.

Mr. Rogers has lived in Jefferson County for most of his life. He grew up on a farm, and graduated from Grandview High School. He received his Class A license and became a lineman shortly after graduating. His first full time position was with Jefferson County Maintenance where he received hands on experience in the field. He then became an HVAC technician at Grandview Schools, and quickly moved on to the Director of Facilities and Transportation.

Mr. Rogers knows he can make a difference in students’ experiences and truly enjoys the problem solving of maintenance. He is excited to start his career at the De Soto School District and watch his son become a Dragon one day.
