Bond Issue

Dear De Soto Community,

On Tuesday, April 7, 2015, the voters overwhelmingly approved (61.19% Yes) a $9.5 million bond issue to improve the district facilities. This is a tremendous WIN for our students and community. The De Soto community has a long tradition in valuing and supporting the education system. Success with Proposition KIDS continues this tradition following successful passages in 2003, 2006, and 2009. The realization of this issue will have a lasting impact on the facility and the instructional programs that this will enhance and make possible. Improved safety, security, ADA accessibility elevators, added instructional space, and renovated spaces are a win for all. These projects allow us to keep improving De Soto Schools for existing students and future students. Continued progress for the school means continued progress for our community. Patrons will be pleased with the improvements. The school will look forward to show casing the improvements within approximately 18 months from Election Day.

We are thankful to so many people who have been with us on this journey some since 2003—including patrons, facility committees, and board, administration, staff, student, and campaign committees. Words cannot express the appreciation for the hours of time dedicated to inform the patrons of the needs and the long term impact for the bond issue improvements.

De Soto is an awesome community with terrific people that make a difference everyday. We will keep working to sustain the honor and tradition of an excellent school system.
